As my boys are getting older, I love finding new experiences to expose them too. It’s probably one of my favorite things. To see the excitement and wonder in their eyes at even the smallest things.

Up until now, I have been hesitant to take them to anything “stage” related. I didn’t think they were ready. Maybe I wasn’t ready to take them. How long can they sit quietly? What if they can’t see what’s happening? How many bathroom trips will we need to take? So many questions.

Then I saw it. The event I knew we had to go to. Rudolph on stage! I mean, this is absolutely perfect. Check out their Facebook page here.

I remember sitting on my grandparent’s couch watching Rudolph on VHS many moons ago and love being able to share the same story with my boys. I think everyone has seen the classic by now and it has become a tradition in so many households.

I was fortunate to interview Shelby Talley (the talented actress that plays Rudolph) before she makes her way to South Florida.

How did you get started on stage? 

I started at a very young age performing in musical theater! I started at my community theater back in San Jose and then worked my way up to majoring in musical theater at UCLA.

Aside from Rudolph, who is your favorite character in the show and why?

Aside from Rudolph, I love the character of Hermey. I love his determination in becoming a dentist. I think his story also brings such a wonderful message to multi-generations to follow your dreams.

Were you a fan of the original TV show growing up? 

I was a huge fan of the 1964 film as a kid! My family loves watching Christmas movies together, and growing up this was definitely one of them.

Which part of the show do you look forward to each night? 

I really look forward to the scene where Santa and Rudolph land on the island of Misfits to save the Misfit Toys. It shows that no one is forgotten in this story. Another amazing message for everyone.
