I headed to The Dollar Tree to see what summer goodies they had, knowing that I wanted to make some sort of 4th of July wreaths. When I saw the display of flip flops, I knew exactly what I wanted to do.

I wasn’t sure hoe many pair exactly I would need but purchased 8 pair for each wreath. Looking back 6 pair per wreath would have worked.

I just kept throwing flip flops in the cart and Harbor thought I was crazy. I mean 16 pairs of flip flops… is a lot of flip flops. 🙂

All of the supplies I picked up were from The Dollar Tree… all except this garland that was on sale at Hobby Lobby and the tubing that was in the dollar craft section at JoAnn Craft Store. I actually didn’t use all of the things purchased for the wreaths so I have plenty of supplies for another project.

I laid out the flip flops around the wreath to see how I wanted the patterns and “feet” to look. I knew I didn’t want matching pairs beside each other and I also didn’t want the feet in pairs how they would be sold at the store.

Covering the wire wreath structure in garland was the easiest way I could figure out how to cover it. Then I hot glued the flip flops on.

I next needed to alternate the flip flops so I could glue them together. This gave them more support, so they would not flip only attached to the garland and wire.

After that was the fun part. Using beads and ribbon just to decorate the rest of the wreath. I also took other decorations from The Dollar Tree apart to use in the wreath. Like the stars. Those were a part of a larger decoration there.

As you are looking at the decorations they have, ask yourself if there is anything that you could take apart and use in a different way. You might surprise yourself.

I’m going to look at a few other locations to see if I could find enough of the cactus/succulent  style to make a few wreaths for after the 4th of July.
