Raise your hand if you love St. Patrick’s Day? I don’t think it gets enough love in the kid community. Sure, adults have plenty to celebrate with wearing green and heading downtown, where ever you might live.

There are so many symbols that seem to be associated with St. Patrick’s Day, but one of my favorites is the rainbow. The idea that there might be a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow is something that has enchanted me since I was a child. Even thought I know there is no way it could be true, I still like to believe in the magic of the unknown.

I had my sons help sort the candies into group colors. A great activity for younger kids. We used M&M’s but of course Skittles would work too. The biggest challenge was to actually keep the candies on the table and not in little mouths.

I love these clear plastic tubes from Oriental Trading. They are perfect for so many different holiday crafts. I have started keeping some for smaller projects like this that pop up.

After we had the colors sorted the boys put them in in ROYGBIV order. (Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple) – a few more candies disappeared during this step too.

These are perfect neighbor gifts or for their teachers. Anyone who would love a “just because” gift. It is impossible to give these and not get a big smile in return.
